Meet the GSAÉD Executive
Each year in March a new team of executive officers are elected by the graduate student community for a one-year term starting in May. The five members of the executive, who coordinate the day-to-day affairs of the Association, are the external commissioner, the finance commissioner, the internal commissioner, the student life commissioner, and the university affairs commissioner.
External Commissioner

Responsibilities
- Represent the Association at external organizations such as the CFS;
- Organize the Association's campaigns;
- Oversee media relations for the Association;
- Organize the website, Bulletin and other promotional tools for the Association;
- Chair the mettings of the Student Issues Action Committee.
Finance Commissioner

Responsibilities
- Act as internal auditor and financial advisor to the Association;
- Ensure the proper collection, deposits and disbursement of all monies and receipts of the Association;
- Be responsible for the administration of the Academic Projects Fund, Inter-Library Loan Fund, and Subsidies Fund of the Association;
- With the Internal Commissioner, and only with the Council’s approval, enter into financial agreements on behalf of the Association;
- Prepare a yearly budget for the Association and with the Student Life Commissioner, assist the Café Nostalgica Manager in the preparation of a yearly budget for the running of the Café Nostalgica;
- Be responsible for the negotiation of the health and dental plans of the Association;
- Chair the meetings of the Capital Building Fund Committee and act as a standing member of the Café Nostalgica Committee.
Internal Commissioner

Responsibilities
- Supervise the staff of the Association;
- With the Chair of the Association, prepare the Board of Directors and Council meetings, as well as general meetings;
- Be responsible for communications with the departmetal graduate students' associations';
- With the Finance Commissioner, and only with the Council’s approval, enter into financial agreements on behalf of the Association;
- Ensure that all official documents of the Association are in order and translated into both official languages;
- Chair the meetings of the Bylaws and Constitution Committee and act as a standing member of the Capital Building Fund Committee.
Student Life Commissioner

Responsibilities
- Ensure representation of graduate student interests and concerns with student-service-related bodies at the University;
- Oversee the general operations of the Café Nostalgica and meet with the Café Manager on a weekly basis;
- Coordinate the organization of social events for the Association;
- Act as representative of properties of the Association in all matters internal and external;
- Chair the meetings of the Café Nostalgica Committee and the Social Committee.
University Affairs Commissioner
Responsibilities
- Ensure representation of graduate student interests and concerns with academic and administrative bodies at the University;
- Assist any member with a complaint or academic appeal, if he or she requests it;
- Coordinate the organization of conferences or other special academic projects of the Association;
- Be responsible for communication with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, as well as any other student association or union on campus;
- Chair the meetings of the University Affairs Committee and act as a standing member of the Student Issues Action Committee.
